Set on a plot with uninterrupted mountain views of the Geneva basin, this contemporary home is a haven of peace for the family living in it. The 185 m2 timber building was built by Izo, a brand owned by Groupe Dunoyer, a family joinery firm based in Annecy. What makes it special? In addition to blending seamlessly into its surroundings, the house is flexible and modular, resting on just four load-bearing posts. Inside, there are virtually no partitions to restrict the space, which opens out onto the terrace with pool and garden. The impression of space is multiplied tenfold, as is the light that warms the cosy atmosphere created by this project. Adapting to the lifestyle of its owners, the home is as functional as it is pleasant to live in. Discovery.
The timber house displays its contemporary character within the local architectural vernacular. This was the architectural style the owners were looking for, finding the perfect compromise in an Izo building. For this turnkey project, the Haute-Savoie-based builder even found the land on which to build the house. A 1,000 m2 plot, narrow and sloping, which gave it every opportunity to express its talent. The house is set on the upper part, overlooking the garden and its timber terrace with swimming pool and jacuzzi. The view is as enchanting as the interior, which is full of surprises as soon as you cross the threshold. The main gable faces due south, an aspect that benefits the large, open-plan living area on the ground floor. The boundaries between indoors and outdoors seem to have disappeared, as the building blends seamlessly into its very special surroundings. After eight months' work, the family of four was able to move in for an indefinite period... And you can see why!
