A "concrete / carpentry” mix
For the Onyx project, the CEO of Duret Promotion aimed to combine wood construction, a blend of diverse materials, distinctive design, complete flexibility in layout, and a sense of light, space, and well-being. Here, the Axe&D construction system was integrated into the architect's plans. The aesthetics dictated the technical aspects, not the other way around. All the wood used was prepared in the Dunoyer workshops, including the structure and carpentry. The laminated beams used were sourced from Eurolamellé in Rumilly, a local supplier that helps reduce the carbon footprint and thus preserve the environment. These beams measured 15 meters long, and the workshops' machining center is equipped to handle, cut, sand, and drill beams even longer. Wood played the most significant role in this project; this rare "concrete/wood" mix makes the Onyx one of the first buildings in France, perhaps even in Europe, to use this construction system. This tertiary project, specially created for offices and businesses, is totally innovative thanks to the building's design. Inside, a real sense of light, space and well-being.
